Puerto Rico: A much too short jaunt

A favorite formula of mine is:  Happiness = what you experience divided by what you expect.  Our recent vacation to Puerto Rico was an extremely “happy” escape, by any measure.

Our family wanted to get away for 5 days to a tropical location that offered beach lounging and short excursions for a change of pace.  Puerto Rico filled this bill to the nth degree.

Our hotel, on capital city San Juan’s fashionable Ashford Avenue, was situated on a wonderful beach.  The temperature was in the low 80s every day, as it is year-round in Puerto Rico.  We visited the only rain forest in North America – the magnificent El Yunque.  Old San Juan, a network of charming, narrow streets, was just minutes from our hotel.  We even had a nighttime adventure – kayaking jungle streams that feed into a luminescent bay.  The food was excellent.  The warmth of the Puerto Rican people was exceptional.  And we were introduced to rum, the national drink of Puerto Rico.  A convenient non-stop flight from Chicago to San Juan made traveling a breeze.

I can’t wait to go back!

Of course the best part was having both your children with you.

Mike and I can’t wait for our next trip with you and Ellen. We love spending time with you, especially vacation time!

    Love,
    Amy
